Crowned Resistance Black Man Art Print - Afrocentric Mixed Media Collage - Limited Edition Wall Art
Crowned Resistance by Simone Anthony-Brown is a powerful mixed media collage that centers and affirms Black men through bold color, symbolism, and layered textures. The original piece was proudly exhibited and sold during the Black Art in Repose exhibit at Chatham Borough Hall in Chatham, New Jersey in May 2025.
This artwork features a striking black and white portrait of a Black man set against a vivid collage of recycled painted papers and printed text fragments reading “Black Lives Matter” and “Protect Black People.” A hand-constructed crown—cut from repurposed artwork and edged in gold—rests above his head, symbolizing both the honor and burden of being seen, resisting, and rising. The background pulses with color and texture, contrasting the subject’s calm, focused expression.
Now available as a limited edition 16 x 20 Giclée print, Crowned Resistance offers collectors a statement piece that speaks to identity, power, and quiet defiance.
