Express Yourself Studios located at 1877 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood will host its 11th annual “Celebrate Dr. King: Explore the Dream Through Art” workshop, Monday, January 21, 11 AM – 2:00 PM (on the hour). Learn about Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement through art. Families with children between the ages of 4-12 are welcome to participate in an art project exploring the themes of Peace, Equality, Friendship and Community. The first 15 families to pre-register will receive a copy of the inspired reading for the day “A Picture Book of Martin Luther King, Jr." by David A. Adler, Robert Casilla (Illustrator) Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a day of service, to learn more about The King Holiday visit: http://www.thekingcenter.org/meaning-king-holiday. As in previous years Express Yourself Studios encourages all participants to bring a canned or boxed, non-perishable food item to be donated to a local charity, this year’s donations will benefit the Wallace Chapel Food Pantry, a service of Wallace Chapel AME Zion Church in Summit, NJ. Donations are accepted now through January 30. The Workshop Fee is $20 per participant. If registering a group or community organization, register at the group rate of $15 per participant.
