Materials:
- 1 sheet of 8 ½ ” x 11” White Paper or Larger
- Pencil
- Paint (Watercolor, Acrylics), Crayons or Pastels
- Paint Brush
- Marker
Directions:
- Place you paper in portrait position (vertically) find the middle (horizontal) and create a large, spiral shape (your rose) be sure to keep the edges sharp and angled versus curved and round
- Create a few more of these "roses" around the paper (small, medium, etc.)
- Now sketch a few other shapes in your background such as squares, triangles, circles and random lines
- Time to paint, choose colors for your rose, we chose pinks and purples, paint your roses in layers with the colors you have chosen
- Select colors for your shapes, we chose yellow, orange and blue
- For the background we will use a mixed media technique, choose 3 crayons for your background. We chose a lime green, green and blue. Color sections of the background with your crayons
- Give your background a "wash" with green watercolor paint. The paint will not adhere to the crayon colored areas
- To finish, trace your pencil lines with a maker, we chose a black sharpie, make your lines a bit larger than the pencil line so they appear very bold against the watercolor paint
