Materials:
- 1 sheet of 8 ½ ” x 11” White Paper or Larger
- Pencil
- Paint (Watercolor, Acrylics), Crayons or Pastels
- Paint Brush
- Markers
- Protractor or something to create circles with
Directions:
- Place your paper in landscape position (horizontally)
- Use a protractor or something to make a circle with like a cup or top. Draw a circle on the right side of your paper and a half circle on the left side of your paper. This represents you whole grapefruit and a 1/2 grapefruit slice
- Just below the whole circle sketch a smaller, adjacent half circle, this represents the skin of the grapefruit. The half circle connect the ends so that it looks like a wedge of grapefruit
- Now create segments in the whole and half circles, this represents the segment bits of the grapefruit
- We will use both crayons and watercolor paint to color this painting. With a white and peach crayon, lightly color the segmented portions and rind of the grapefruit
- Select a very bright pink or coral color watercolor paint to paint the segments and rind, the crayons will act as a resist
- Select a light and dark orange color for the rind
- You may choose to paint the entire background or just the area directly around your grapefruit, choose a complimentary color we choose a light teal
