Materials:




  1. 1 sheet of 8 ½ ” x 11” White Paper or Larger
  2. Pencil
  3. Paint (Watercolor, Acrylics), Crayons or Pastels
  4. Paint Brush
  5. Markers
  6. Protractor or something to create circles with


Directions:



  1. Place your paper in landscape position (horizontally)
  2. Use a protractor or something to make a circle with like a cup or top. Draw a circle on the right side of your paper and a half circle on the left side of your paper. This represents you whole grapefruit and a 1/2 grapefruit slice
  3. Just below the whole circle sketch a smaller, adjacent half circle, this represents the skin of the grapefruit. The half circle connect the ends so that it looks like a wedge of grapefruit
  4. Now create segments in the whole and half circles, this represents the segment bits of the grapefruit
  5. We will use both crayons and watercolor paint to color this painting. With a white and peach crayon, lightly color the segmented portions and rind of the grapefruit
  6. Select a very bright pink or coral color watercolor paint to paint the segments and rind, the crayons will act as a resist
  7. Select a light and dark orange color for the rind
  8. You may choose to paint the entire background or just the area directly around your grapefruit, choose a complimentary color we choose a light teal
