Express Yourself Studios is thrilled to announce our 2024 Summer Art Workshop for children aged 6-11. From June 24 to August 23, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, your child is invited to join us for a week or drop in for a day or more during any camp week.

Explore a Diverse Range of Artistic Projects.  Each week brings a new adventure with artistic projects spanning various mediums, including painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, sculpture, and printmaking. All materials are included.

Weekly Themes and Projects:

Week 1: Cartooning - June 24 - June 28

• Create a comic strip and cartoon characters
• Translate characters into 3D through clay modeling
  
  

Week 2: Nature and Wildlife Art - July 1 - July 3

• Explore the beauty of nature through art
• Create paintings and pottery inspired by animals, plants, and landscapes
• Incorporate natural elements into clay projects
  
  

Week 3: African Diaspora Art - July 8 - July 12

• Explore traditional and contemporary African, Afro-Caribbean, and African American art
• Create artworks inspired by African patterns, masks, pottery, and textiles
  
  

Week 4: Space and Galaxy Art - July 15 - July 19

• Journey into outer space through art
• Paint galaxies, planets, and cosmic scenes
• Create pottery with celestial themes

Week 5: Women in the Arts - July 22 - July 26

• Be inspired by influential women artists throughout history
• Create art inspired by female artists' styles and themes

Week 6: Latin Art - August 5 - August 9

• Explore Latin and Latin American art and artists
• Create vibrant and colorful artworks inspired by Latin culture
• An introduction to Latin American pottery styles

Week 7: Abstract Art - August 12 - August 16

• Learn abstract art concepts
• Experiment with different techniques and styles of abstract painting
• Translate abstract ideas into unique pottery pieces

Week 8: Collage - August 19 - August 23

• Experiment with different types of paper to create layers and texture 
• Combine various materials, to create Mixed Media Collages:.
• Create collages that tell a story or convey a specific theme.

Summer Art Workshop Registration Details:

• Early Bird Rate (Before March 31, 2024) or Multi-Week/Child Discount: $295 per week.
• Regular Weekly Fee (After March 31, 2024): $350.
• Reduced Week (July 1-3): $210 (No Camp on July 4-5).
• Drop-In Rate: $70 per day or $65 for multiple drop-in days or children on specific day(s) of camp.
• No Camp Week: July 29 - August 2.
